Ok this isn't tech related but after attending my recent school farewell there are a number of things that came to my mind. Obviously school events are important. They give students a break from the usual studies. Since such event are usually organized by students themselves I've put in some tips from my own personal opinion on how to make events like farewells memorable and fun!
1) Repeat after me: DO NOT USE SCRIPTS
This goes primarily for hosting. Reading off every single word from a piece of paper sounds very robotic and sounds really dull/fake. yes it's important to have a plan of what to say but not necessarily have every single word written down. Some of the best moments are created during times of improvisation. Let creativity bloom. Dont restrict yourself to a paper
2) Unofficial Awards!!!!
Oh c'mon. every farewell has these. I had them last year too. Unofficial Awards such as "Most macho man" or things like "School joker" really pave way for comedy and entertainment.
3) The titles
Ok here there are two things that should be taken into account
a) The titles themselves
b) The announcement of the titles
Firstly don't make the titles generic. cliche titles aren't very memorable. Secondly the announcements of the titles should have a little energy in them (perhaps accommodate them with a joke?) rather than simply just reading names out like taking an attendance
That's about all I have to say. These are just some tips from my personal opinion on how to make such an important event as good as it can be and it doesn't apply to just farewell's. Many events suffer from scripted emotions so just in case any of you ever have to host more events, which I'm sure you will, these are just some pointers from my side to help ya'll out.
